Code of Ethics

Our Code of Ethics is certainly one of the most important documents of the ICF. Not only has it been agreed and signed by all our members, but it has also formed the basis of many ethical codes from other (national and international) organizations in our industry. At the General Council meeting of 4 July 2011 in Bristol, a renewed version of the code of ethics was presented. The meeting adopted unanimously this version and agreed that the new version would replace the old one. Below you will find the Code of Ethics valid as of 4 July 2011. We encourage all our members to display the Code of Ethics on their premises, for the public to see. Obviously websites and other promotional material are also very appropriate ways of informing the public on our standards of ethical behavior.

 General Council Meeting 2011

 At the latest General Council Meeting – 4 July 2011 in the Grand Hotel in Bristol - the new Executive Committee of the ICF was elected. From left to right the members of the Executive Committee: Gabriele Righi (Vice President), Rolf Lichtner (Treasurer), Rick Powel (new member, Great Britain), Gerald Sullivan (President), Darryl Thomas (new member, Australia) en Henry Keizer (Secretary-General).

International Cremation Federation

Founded in London in 1937 the International Cremation Federation (ICF) is an international non-profit organisation devoted to promoting the practice of cremation to the highest standard.

In 1996 the International Cremation Federation was granted Consultative Status (Roster) with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The Federation has the ability to contribute to the international cremation movement and work of the United Nations at the highest level.
